From Homeless Shelter to Buying Her 1st Home

From homeless shelter to buying her 1st home

Single mom who lived on the streets found HOPE and made a better life for her son

Amber Golisano, a 38-year-old single mother, transitioned from homelessness to homeownership with the help of HOPE Ministries, a faith-based organization in Manteca. Three years ago, Golisano was homeless after enduring 4½ years on the streets due to a series of bad relationships and drug addiction. HOPE Ministries provided her with shelter and support, enabling her to save money, secure stable employment, and eventually buy a home. Golisano's story highlights the success of HOPE Ministries, which boasts a 49% success rate for families moving into permanent housing, significantly higher than the countywide rate. Golisano will speak at HOPE’s upcoming Night of HOPE event, where the organization will seek support to make her new home more livable. For more information, visit hopefamilyshelters.org.
